Makeup Brands for the Cool Girl in You
I blame Emily Weiss for everything. If you love makeup and you don’t know who she is, you have some reading to catch up on. Emily is the former Vogue assistant who founded the beauty Web site Into the Gloss. She is also the force behind cool girl beauty brand Glossier, a line of mid-priced products ranging from lip balm to moisturizers.
But Glossier isn’t the only brand for cool girls. You know how annoying it is that certain girls need only a lipstick with just a hint of color and a face tint that’s barely there while we lesser mortals require full coverage everything? Here are our pick on brands that can surely unleash the cool girl in you:
This brand is best known for its Holographic Stick and is described as “High Concept, Low Maintenance."
MILK Makeup Holographic Stick in Mars ($28), available online
But Milk Makeup isn’t just cool. The brand keeps their ingredients as natural as possible with the line over 70 percent vegan and 100 percent cruelty-free. Oh, the packaging is recyclable, too.
Hourglass isn’t just cool, it’s hella expensive, too. The brand is best known for its Ambient Lighting Collection, which nobody except makeup artists seems to know how to use.
They have a wide range of products but their powders are the bomb. If I could only buy one thing, I would customize my own Ambient Lighting Palette or maybe get the Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick.
Hourglass Cosmetics Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick in Buff ($46), available online
So what makes Hourglass cool? It’s luxurious but does not scream tita.
To be honest, I would give one of my kidneys for a Lottie London Mermaid Glow Highlighter. I kid but this three-year-old brand is a favorite of the selfie generation. In their Web site, the brand calls its products “Insta worthy.”
Lottie London Mermaid Glow Highlighter ($7.60), available online
Essence Makeup Pure Nude Highlighter ($4.49), available online and at all Watsons store and The SM Store Beauty Section
This drugstore brand offers high performance but reasonably priced products. Essence is cool because it’s a fun brand that encourages experimentation.
