Splurge and Save: Choose the Products That Work For You, The Upsize Way
We’ve seen a lot of Splurge and Save versions of our favorite beauty products and honestly, we love almost all of them.
But it’s about time we came up with our own list of Splurge and Save, don’t you think so?
This is one of Charlotte Tilbury’s most famous shades, which was reportedy worn by Amal Clooney on her wedding day in combination with Amazing Grace lipstick from the same brand.
Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Bond Girl
So we found a dupe for it and we actually won’t call it a dupe but a twin because Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipstick in Touch Of Spice looks and feels exactly like it. Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks are priced at around Php 1,800 each (the nearest place to get them, aside from online resellers, is Lane Crawford, Harbour City in Hong Kong) while Maybelline lipsticks are at about Php 299 each (regular price) at department stores and drugstores nationwide. When Maybelline goes on sale, you can probably get the lipsticks for a lower price.

This foundation gives medium-to-full coverage and a radiant finish. This is an unlikely combination because usually, if you want full coverage, you also get a matte face. Born This Way has a very natural finish and a lit-from-within look. However, At Php 2,350 per bottle at sephora.ph, Born This Way is quite expensive and not really practical for everyday wear because of that.
Too Faced Born This Way Foundation in Swan
According to mymakeupdesk.com, a decent dupe of Too Faced Born This Way is ELF Acne Fighting Foundation, which you can order from online sellers for around Php 600 to Php 700 each. The ELF foundation has natural-looking medium-to-full coverage and claims to contain acne-fighting ingredients such as salicylic acid and tea tree. The downside is that ELF Acne Fighting Foundation only has eight shades so sometimes, you have to combine two shades to get it right.
E.L.F Acne Fighting Foundation in Porcelain
When a skin care product is known by its initials, such as Estee Lauder ANR, you know that it is one of the most famous in the world. So many women swear by this serum, which retails by around Php 5,000 + at Estee Lauder boutiques, for its anti-aging and moisturizing properties. It is so good that you can use it on its own, without a moisturizer. It is so effective that you can use it for acne-prone skin.
Estēe Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum
Being touted as a dupe is Missha Night Repair Science Activator. So is it? In a way, yes. For around Php 1,900 (a friend purchased ours in Korea). It’s not as dramatic and quick in terms of results like Estee Lauder ANR, but it works. Of course, you need to take into consideration that Estee Lauder ANR is the world’s No. 1 serum.
