There's More to Netflix Than Just Chill
This is our most pleasant Netflix discovery for 2017: The video streaming service has Korean shows and not just dramas or concerts of KPop idols.
They actually have variety and cooking shows!
Here are the shows we’ve been binge watching on Netflix:
The show is simple. They go to the homes of two celebrities and bring their actual refrigerators and pantry contents to the studio. Once there, two hosts open the fridge and talk about the contents.
There are always eight guests sitting on the show. Each guests has two dishes on his or her wish list. Two chefs will cook one dish in 15 minutes after which the celebrity will name the best one. The guest list is star studded and have included GDragon, Taeyang, Rain and many other stars.
Three moderators and 11 (now 12, I heard) men who sit on a panel as “representatives.” Think the UN General Assembly except the men are younger and (sorry) more good looking. Oh, did we mention that the “representatives” are not Koreans?
We’re watching the first season so there are 11 representatives and the three hosts, of course, sharing their views about everything from politics to sex. Our favorites are Sam from Ghana, Alberto from Italy, Yuan from China, Guillame from Canada and the Daniels (one is from Australia and the other is from Germany). The show is full of testosterone and the guys love to poke fun at each other.
The two shows star Yoon Doo-joon as a wise-cracking real estate agent who loves food. If you love KPop (the leading man is also an idol), Korean food and a good story, this is for you.
The Fangirl Verdict
Let’s Eat won’t win any Emmys but it’s very entertaining. Doo-joon either really likes his food or else he is a very good actor because just looking at his posts makes us really hungry.
