Barbie Hsu Dies At 48

It all started when Barbie Hsu’s ex-husband Wang Xiaofei changed his profile picture on Douyin and WeChat to black. This came a day after a social media page said a Taiwanese star aged 48 had died due to a sudden illness.

On February 3, Barbie’s sister Dee issued a statement through her agent.

"Our whole family came to Japan for a trip, and my dearest and most kindhearted sister Barbie Hsu died of influenza-induced pneumonia and unfortunately left us," said Dee, a talk show host. “I was grateful to be her sister in this life and that we got to care for and spend time with each other. I will always be grateful to her and miss her!"

Barbie Hsu is best remembered for her iconic role as Shancai in the Taiwanese drama "Meteor Garden."

She is survived by her South Korean husband—singer and DJ Koo Jun-yup—and her 10-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son with her ex-husband.
