Our Top 10 Girl Power Songs

Music has been scientifically proven to be effective in upsizing your mood which is why whenever we feel down, it's always music on, world off.

Our usual playlist may be currently filled with random songs but never was there a day when we didn't listen to our constants.

These are our picks for every mood that keeps us going with inspiration everyday.

Run the World by Beyoncé

This is an obvious choice. We remember blasting this off our earphones whenever news about belittling women arise. The music video is one to watch too. There may be several reasons why Beyoncé is queen but this is definitely a clear one.

Our fave lyric: "My persuasion can build a nation"
Perfect for: Reminding yourself of who runs the world

Just Stand Up by Various Artists

And by various artists we mean Carrie Underwood, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Sheryl Crow (on studio version, Nicole Scherzinger (on live version), Fergie, Leona Lewis, Keyshia Cole, Natasha Bedingfield, LeAnn Rimes, Melissa Etheridge, Ciara, Ashanti, Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, and yep, Beyoncé (told ya). This single was specially made for the "Artists Stand Up to Cancer" campaign released on 2008.

Our fave lyric:
"It's like we all had better days
Problems getting all up in your face
Just because you go through it don't mean it gotta take control."

Perfect for: Times when you feel like you're stuck in a rut and feel like you can't pick up yourself from being down

The Greatest by Sia featuring Kendrick Lamar

Sia is one of the most underrated artists in the music industry. Did you know that she has been writing incognito for several pop artists including Rihanna and Lady Gaga? And she's creates really good songs that definitely hits the heart.

We especially love this song because Sia and Kendrick Lamar together is just eargasm - two amazing artists merged into one powerful song guaranteed to keep you going.

Our fave lyric:
"I fell twice before my bounce back was special
Letdowns will get you and the critics will test you
But the strong will survive, another scar may bless you"

Perfect for: Times when you feel hurt by others and affected by your critics because it reminds you of how possible it is to get back up on your feet because you can be the greatest you can be

Flawless Remix by Beyoncé featuring Nicki Minaj

Yup. Basically we could fill this whole list with a ton of Beyoncé songs but maybe we could just sneak in another one. This is a powerhouse remix of the original woke-up-like-this hit because it features the one and only modern queen of rap, Nicki.

This song leans toward a more sexual empowerment for women which is actually pretty liberating and powerful. Plus, it makes us claim that we look so good. Thanks, Nicki and B!

Our fave lyric:
"Say, 'I look so good tonight'"

Perfect for: Walking around the city like a boss.

I Don't Need A Man by The Pussycat Dolls

We seriously want to sneak in Independent Women by the Destiny's Child but we bet you all got that one coming anyway so we'll have this instead. The Pussycat Dolls was once the sexy, all-girl power group of the early 2000s and it's only fair that we include this awesome hit.

Our fave lyric:
"I don't need a man, I'll get me through
Cause I know I'm fine, I feel brand new"

Perfect for: A response to catcallers and your resident fuccbois. Tell 'em you can get off being free, doing your thing, and even without a ring if they only want to grab one thing. Yeah.

Work Bitch by Britney Spears

How do we even begin with this song? With it's crazy fast beat and straight-to-the-point words, let Britney preach to you, sister! If you want something, you better work... and well, let Britney help push you to it. Yaaaas, Brit tell us!

Our fave lyric:
"Hold your head high, fingers to the sky
They gon' try to try ya, but they can't deny ya
Keep it building higher and higher"

Perfect for: Working out, working, breathing, and living in general. Also perfect for everyday alarm! For the rest of the song, Britney talks about your goals cause she thinks you probably also want a Lamborghini, sip martinis, and look hot in a bikini.

Love by Lana Del Rey

This song made a noise in the Lana Del Rey fandom when it was first almost released because it leaked (oh the horrors of an artist in the music industry). But Lana was quick to respond that this song is dedicated to all her fans and their feelings towards life.

We're currently so into this song because it carries the melancholic melody specific to Ms. Del Rey's music but also because despite of its sad, heavy rhythm, the words have a lighter message.

Our fave lyric:
"It don't matter because it's enough to be young and in love"

Perfect for: The hopeless romantics. Some people may think negatively of those who still believe in real love at this day and age but kudos to you if you still do because it takes bravery to be a soldier of love in these modern times. Let Lana sing you through it.

Can't Hold Us Down by Christina Aguilera featuring Lil' Kim

The powerful voice of Christina Aguilera has also graced us with several empowering songs throughout the years like Beautiful and Fighter but we're listing down this one for its very straightforward lyrics. And we thank the era of the Lady Marmalade ensemble for existing that probably paved the way for this collab.

*Also, here's the official video to make you nostalgic over thin-lined-eyebrows Christina.

Our fave lyric:
"So what am I not supposed to have an opinion
Should I be quiet just because I'm a woman
Call me a bitch cause I speak what's on my mind
Guess it's easier for you to swallow if I sat and smiled"

Perfect for: Ultimate empowerment. This song's got it all. As we said, its message is pretty straight-to-the-point. Just click play.

Confident by Demi Lovato

We remember Demi from her Camp Rock days and taking on her haters when she gained some weight (which was not even a bad look, I mean??). But Queen Demi returns to the pop music world with new billboard hit records and a rocking extra hot bod. Of course, she releases a song called "Confident" for all the right reasons and the people she stands with.

Our fave lyric:
"What's wrong with being confident?"

Perfect for: Power walks and picking an outfit in the morning

Girl on Fire by Alicia Keys

Channel a fierce fighter vibe like Katniss Everdeen and play this song on repeat. Listen to Alicia's sultry and soulful voice sing about your strength. She's totally talking about you, girl!

Our fave lyric:
"She's living in a world and it's on fire
Feeling the catastrophe but she knows she can fly away"

Perfect for: Singing with! This song's got some major notes to hit and sustain so it's definitely perfect when you just want to scream your feelings out but want to scream in style. Girl on faaaaayaaaaaaa!

Bonus hit:

Wings by Little Mix

Every song that reminds us of our strength, beauty, and power as a woman is an instant favorite. This song tells us that we shouldn't always listen to people who have nothing nice to say. There will always be ups and downs in life but you have wings, allow them to spread and fly!

Our fave lyric:
"And we don't let nobody bring us down
No matter what you say it won't hurt me
No matter if I fall from the sky
These wings were made to fly."

Perfect for: Power walks, surprise dance parties, and singing with in the car. This song was sung by a group so go ahead and feel free to take which harmony you want to be!
